Camping at the Beach...

We went camping this weekend and had a wonderful time. It was just the boys and I, Jason didn't want to go and Amanda was working. We went with some friends to Dillon's Beach. I have always called it Dillon's Beach, but I noticed the sign actually said Dillon Beach. So I really don't know now. We played on the beach, the kids caught some crabs, Mark caught a fish. We also discovered that Mark is great asset to have around the campfire with his guitar!

Weight Watchers....

I have been able to stick to WW for a whole week now. The first few days is always the hardest. Once you get into the swing of it, it becomes a habit. A couple other moms and I are walking while the boys are warming up for football. It's great...there is no excuse and it won't be easy to back out since all I am doing is sitting there watching practice anyway! Practice has been going fine for Jake. He has complained about his stomach muscles hurting and his legs being weak. He was one of the fastest boys running the sprints yesterday. He told me he "got mad" and put it into his running. I am thinking "Waterboy". (I love that movie)

Finally....Recognized for Something Good...

Woodland Healthcare has gotten a bad rap in the Democrat lately. I was so happy when I read this wonderful article in the Sacramento Bee today. It is nice that our hard work is finally recognized. It is too bad the Democrat can't see the good things that our hospital does.

Favorite Things.....

I am very excited...some of my favorite things to do are just over the horizon! We went to the Junior Patriot Football Parent Meeting this afternoon. It was great to see everyone, we made such good friends last year. Pratice starts monday...I can't wait.
Today I am working on getting my pictures ready to enter in the fair. I have to narrow down all the pictures I have to 10.....dang, that is gonna be hard! I love the fair. I love looking at all the exibits, wandering around and seeing all the people I haven't seen since last year, and plopping my butt down at the beer booth and visiting with all my friends while the kids run amuck! I have my favorite fair foods too. I love the Indian Fry Bread...either with cheese or cinnamon and sugar. Chocolate dipped cheesecake is a wonderful treat I have to have at least once during the fair. The pupusas (sp?) are spicy but very yummy. I used to really like the chicken caeser pitas, but they haven't had that for the last couple years. Jason loves the cinnamon rolls. Does anyone else have a favorite fair food?

They Started!

I heard a noise coming from down the road yesterday so I went to check it out. What do you think I saw?

I wandered down County Road 18 and found Diamond D starting work on the Creek ON TIME!

I asked Mr. Defty about the hawks that are nesting. He said that they could work up to a certain area, but no further. I am glad that the hawks get to finish up their nesting season and work gets started on the stabilization. Everybody wins!

Huff's Corner

I received a letter in the mail today from Diamond D General Engineering informing us that the Huff's Corner Bank Stabilization Project is starting on July 16th. I immediately called them to find out if my dream of dreams was coming true...would they also be opening County Road 18 again? YES!!!!! They will!!!! I will no longer have to make a two mile detour just to get on the freeway! I have to admit it has been nice with the decreased traffic, but I really miss all the bicycle riders, the older folks cruising in their restored classic cars, and the sheriffs patrolling my neighborhood.

The eastward facing view of Huff's Bend from down in the creek.

UPDATE: I heard a rumor that there is a nesting hawk in the way of construction and it may have to be postponed.

Pioneer Football Scrimmage

Pioneer High played a 7 man touch football scrimmage against Davis High on Saturday. Even though Davis seemed to be making more points, it was a great practice.

The End of an Era (Thank Goodness)

The end of a era has come with the destruction of a favorite teenager's hang-out. The abandon house on County Road 97A burned to the ground early Saturday morning. Although the house was pretty much toast when the fire department arrived, they were able to save a few outbuildings, including the barn, garage and most importantly, the outhouse. I for one was glad to see it go. I am really love old houses, but this one was the source of a lot of problems in our "neighborhood".

Grassfires

Dear People who live in Allendale...

Wife of a firefighter
